What the BLEEP was that???

The universe of influence . The universe in our minds . Action and Reaction . Adapting and "re-adapting"...

In this exercise I listened to "Mozart : The Marriage of Figaro - Overture" and looked at the above image of the universe while drawing without looking at the paper. I notice that instantly I began to transfer the information from the photo to the paper. I looked for patterns and hidden images. Then I let the music take control of my pen. You can see where I tried to control my thoughts to reflect the image and where I let loose to allow the music to take hold.

Everything is interconnected.

Fear factor

Fear factor = scientific method = critical thinking = a formula for creativity???

Fear is a warning of danger

Danger can take shape in many forms

and have many degrees

Survival is life

Living is instinctive

Innovation is one

major answer to fear

If humans want heat

they must learn to make fire

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.    Examine the situation.

I'm not exactly sure what fear is, but I do know there is a purpose for it. I believe there is a purpose for everything we do. The subconscious is powerful. I think it is only a matter of time until every person does exactly what they feel they should and wants to do. It is a pull. A gravitational force to your "destiny" if you will.

I don't want to over think the whole situation so I'll make it simple. Fear to me is your subconscious and conscious giving your mind personal reminders to be careful. Depending on your belief and drive you can overcome most adversities.

    2.    Formulate an experiment.

I've been afraid of succeeding because I understand the amount of time and commitment I will have to dedicate to that new found success. I realize that time flies when you're having fun. I am afraid of progression.

My experiment is to be the person I've always wanted to become. I will start doing the small things I know I should do in order to be successful. An example of this start working out. Start doing homework on time and studying in classes. Walk my little sister to school and make sure she has breakfast. I want to write my grandmother one letter every week. I want to be kinder to myself. This is a test of commitment, patients, and belief. (Mind . Body . Spirit)

I will do this by coming to terms with my current standings and embrace my ambitious side of attaining my short-term goals.

    3.    Hypothesize the expected outcome.

  • I am not sure how people will react to my experiment.
  • Energy circulates .
    4.    Conduct the experiment.
I'm starting to feel better about my direction in life. I don't really understand it, but I like this feeling and I want it to grow.

    5.    Observe the reaction.
It was interesting sharing my idea.

    6.    Analysis of hypothesis with actual outcome.
I feel very good with life. I have a long way to go until I reach some major dreams, but I'm taking it one day at a time.

    7.    Propose changes to your idea based on what happened.
Death to Doubt
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1.    My experiment resonated the best with me.
    2.    It's been something I've wanted to do for a very long time.
    3.    Death to Doubt

Your greatest contribution

I really enjoy testing the boundaries of all mediums. My limitations are what I decide it to be and I will communicate this to others through my various productions. I will communicate this to myself by always learning, imagining, and applying.

Reflection on time and goals

  • What is the most important thing in your life?
The most important thing in my life right now is achieving my current goals. That is going to school and graduating from college.
  • How does discussing that make you feel?
It makes me challenged because I tend to stretch myself thing with personal and side projects.
  • How does it make you feel about your goals when you think about the amount of time you might or might not have in which to achieve them?
I need must focus for 4 semesters (Fall 2012, Spring 2013, Summer I&II) to graduate. This is a challenge I am willing to take and achieve.
  • What are your thoughts on the idea that you are in charge of how much time you actually have in a given day?
I think we commit our time to certain element in order to achieve some level of what we perceive to be a career level of success. It is up to us if we want to embrace it or not.
  • What are the limitations you place on yourself?
My current limitation is living up to my obligations to family, work, and school.
  • What are the limitations that are imposed on you by outside sources?
I currently have no limitations imposed by outside sources.
  • What can you do about any of this?
Graduate from college then focus on this kinda stuff! :)

How to read a book

Go to a library, bookstore, or your own book collection and look through the books. Please do not read any. Just pay attention to what catches your eye.
  • On the side of the book there are different hues of grays and whites.
  • I like seeing observing small details.
Choose a red book and open it to page 6. Close your eyes and put your finger on the page somewhere.
  • I placed my finger on the word "silver" that was located in a movie screen shot.
  • There are infinite straight lines.
Using your other senses, explain what the paper feels like.
  • It is slick.
  • It feel like plastic wrap.
  • I do not feel the ink from the words.
  • Nope!
  • There are textures. If I focus my attention on the paper I can imagine it being mountains.
  • The cover has a lot of history. The scratches, tears, and dents tell a story.
Without destroying the book, unless you own it and want to, see if you can figure out how the book was constructed.
  • It appears to be glued.
  • There is no cloth.
  • Paperback
  • Not to my knowledge.
  • The glue reminds me of elementary school.
Flip through the pages and look at the end papers.
  • Yes, someone write notes and highlight certain sections.
Examine the book more.
  • The cover has a lot of character. The corners are bent. It has dents, scratches, and tears.
Look at the pages of the book.
  • It is a dull white.
  • The book has photos relating to film.
Think about the history of this book.
  • The book has a lot of history. Someone handled it okay.
  • The corner of the pages are bent.
  • I can not imagine what someone else was thinking while reading this book.
  • It is a possibility.
Flip through the pages quickly.
  • It sounds like something small is clapping.
  • I did not feel the breeze.
  • I moved the dust particles with the wind generated with the book.
  • This is a possibility.
Drop the book on the floor.
  • I experienced dropping the book on the floor.
  • I heard the sound it made.
  • Nope!
  • Nope!
Hold the book between your hands with one hand on each cover and the book closed. Close your eyes.
  • The book it cool.
  • It is warm.
  • YUP!
  • My old house gets cold. I read and notice the small details.
Smell the book.
  • Green eggs and ham.
I do not recommend tasting the book for health and safety issues… :-)

Now, finally, read the first page. If it is just pictures, read the story of the pictures.
  • FILM ART (An Introduction) 9th Edition
  • David Bordwell is an O.G.
Reflect back on this entire exericise.
  • It still love looking at books. I don't read as much as I would like.
  • Nope!
  • Nuffin.
Now think about this class.
  • You made use use and think about the majority of our senses on something that we use almost everyday.
  • Focus
  • You can pull something out of anything.

Class recap

Yesterday in class we pushed the boundaries of our senses by turning off the lights for a portion of the class and not speaking for another portion of class.

The purpose was to understand good communication.

This is an interesting topic. Good communication is different for everyone. In past experiences being able to be remembered was good communication. In different scenarios action was good communication. Currently good communication are senses.

CLOUD LOVE BOMBS ABOVE!!

DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS, IN
I was riding my bike last week when this view of the city struck me dead in my tracks. It's strange because this view is from the west side of the city facing east. The clouds rose so high that it was not only catching the light from the almost non-existent sunset, it was reflecting light back to the city. I suppose this is where dreams steam from in a symbolic way, but also in a realistic sense.
